Waterton Park Wedding Photography - Engagement shoot Wakefield, West Yorkshire

Engagement shoot with Nicole & Rob at Waterton Park Hotel, Wakefield, West Yorkshire.

It’s been a gloomy old month so far with very poor weather and very few outbursts of sunshine so I was pleasantly surprised upon my arrival to Waterton Park Hotel in Wakefield to be greeted by blue skies and glorious sunshine beaming down on me.

Spring was definitely in the air this week for Nicole & Rob when we shot our engagement photography shoot ahead of their wedding there on May 24th at the stunning Waterton Park Hotel; a Palladian style house built in 1767 on the site of a moated Medieval hall (Walton Hall) on an island surrounded by a 26 acre lake. So picturesque and full of character and surrounded with scenic views across the lake. They now don new hot tubs where you can sit just looking out onto the lake…hopefully we can get Nicole and Rob chilling in these in the evening!

If anyone wonders why there are so many geese in the shots I’ve got a bit of a background story to tell…

On the day we were greeted by a family of angry geese who really weren’t impressed we’d decided to use their lawns for an engagement shoot. I’ve never had to run so fast backwards on an engagement shoot before and it’s a big shame there was no one there shooting video footage of me getting chased for my life backwards! It was bloody hilarious and like a comedy sketch. So I decided to use the geese in my shots on the day to tell the story (never to be forgotten by Nicole & Rob!).

Can’t wait to cover their wedding photography there at Waterton Park next month so watch this space for the actual wedding photographs. Hopefully the geese will be more chilled next month when I return but if not make sure you’ve got your phones out to video me!!!
